one common question by all whose interested in baking is..where do i get my baking stuffs?
personally,i shop at Phoon Huat.it’s one of the major baking supplier in Singapore and they have many branches all around Singapore.very convenient!do note that every branch seemed to stock up on different items so it’s best to give them a call beforehand.
another great place to shop at is bake it yourself.it’s slightly more costly as compared to Phoon Huat but it has more unique stuffs.an ideal place to shop if you are keen on baking cupcakes/cookies.
the next common question is…what are the basic tools that i need?this would depend on what you are intending to bake.start by finding the recipe you are keen in preparing and get those tools stated.you can continue to expand your baking tools collection when you go on to preparing other yummy deserts.
my basic tools that i started off with:
- large mixing bowl (stainless steel)
- whisk or you can use a spoon
- measuring cups/spoons
- kitchen scale
- electric mixer (super useful)
- 9 or 10″ round and square cake tin (great for cakes)
- greaseproof paper (for lining the pan/tins)
was considering to get a breadmaker as i’m very keen to make bread but kx advised me not to.he said i could prepare and knead the dough all by myself.gonna be so tough!!shall try doing it by hands first…i can always go get it at a later date
the next update would be on the making of Jellyhearts
=)
