got this machine from Carrefour some time back as it was on promotion and it even comes with a free toaster!

i love the smell of fresh baked bread.you will be amazed how strong the smell is..i could smell it even from my room.bread is a staple item in my family.we eat it for breakfast almost every other day.am super happy with this buy!!!making bread isn’t as hard as it seem.the important thing to note is to be exact with the measurements.

but i still have a long way to go in learning the skills of bread maker..been a while since i baked.shall get down to baking my own loaf of bread when i get back from my holidays

this isn’t exactly baking/cooking but since it’s food,i might as well post it up here…

have been having only GREENS for my meal on every monday since 3 weeks ago.yup,i eat only greens/vegetables.no meat!no fish!for all 3 meals – breakfast, lunch, dinner

made a gigantic salad for kx recently and he likes it!of course,i added lots of heathly yummy ingredients

on the left – my first bowl of salad
raisins
mandarin orange
cheese
cabbage
egg
mustard sauce

on the right – my latest creation
raisins
mandarin orange
cheese
cabbage
egg
tofu
cranberry
mustard sauce

as each week goes by,i add more and more ingredients to my salad.haha..
this is such a boring post
=)

will start baking something soon..

my kitchen is so clean because i have not been messing around lately.haha..been kept occupied by several things.

baked this quite some time back..super super delicious apple crumble!!scoop your fav vanilla ice cream beside it and it’ll be perfect for afternoon tea.but it’s just a tad too sweet.got to cut down on the sugar and cinnamon.hehe…mum’s actually asking me to do this again.she even bought me the granny smith green apples but i have yet to done so =p

opps..i just realised i did not take any pictures of the slice itself.promise to do so when i bake this again.

am finally back for updates.however, there’s no baking updates yet but a few food reviews…

this is a must-visit place for those who love mushrooms!!this place serves all kind of mushrooms and there are really a lot that i never see before.it’s a steamboat buffet style but there’s ala-carte for you to choose from.

just a  few pictures of the food…was busy eating and forgotten to snap more.there’s 2 long list of items for you to choose from.a mixture of meat, vege, mushrooms and even noodles/fried rice that you can keep ordering from.

great place to go to enjoy healthy food at a reasonable price…the only downside is the not very friendly locations.overall,we enjoyed our lunch and will surely be back with my grandmum…

had another baking session yesterday.this time, with kx’s help..kx never understands why i want to bake instead of buying the end product (which might be cheaper and nicer).haha…i guess i enjoy the process of baking and eating something that you made from scratch.he found it boring and prefer cooking cooking (not a bad thing for me)

tried making cheesecake.had a little fun and decorate it with raspberry jam.the end product was this very delicious cheescake!!

*ignore the biscuit crumb as we ate two pieces before putting it into the fridge.that’s why the base is not solid yet.

credit to aunty yochana again.hehe…but i made some changes

ingredients:

250g biscuit
2 tsp sugar
80g melted butter

500g cream cheese
120g sugar
3tbsp all-purpose flour
1tsp vanilla essence
150g sour cream
2 eggs

  1. blend biscuit, sugar and butter together
  2. press it to the base of the circular pan
  3. bake for 10 mins at 175C
  4. beat cream cheese and sugar till creamy
  5. add in vanilla essence, flour, sour cream and mix together
  6. add in eggs one at a time and blend till just cover
  7. pour over biscuit base
  8. add jam of your preference to the top using a piping bag
  9. use satay stick to do swirl effect if you wish
  10. bake for 45 mins at 160C
  11. let it cool before placing it into the fridge

this will be a purely pictures based food review…

just some little information about this place…it’s a very small place located at orchard.read about good reviews from online forum and since the two of us love japanese food and sushi,we decided to try their buffet lunch.they serve mainly sushi and in buffet style.buffet style meant that you get to order unlimited amount of sushi BUT there will only be one serving of sashimi.a bit sad but the sushi is delicious as well.you would not regret it.at least we did not!!

the pricing isnt cheap though.weekday lunch is $29+ and weekday dinner is $39+.if you are thinking of popping over during holidays or weekends,it’ll be another $10 on top of the normal weekday price.after eating the sushi from this place, you would think twice about eating at sakae sushi.

the quality of the food is worth the price you are paying.the sashimi is fresh!the service is great too.i love the owner cum chef there.super kawaii and friendly.haha..if only i can take a picture with him.

there is a loyalty card given to you on your first time there.you have to accumulate 6 stamps and your next buffet will just be $10.super worth it but the validity of the card is only 3 months.we are planning to dine there once a month.save all the money from dining at other japanese places and attack sushi!

surprisingly, the two of us did not felt extremely bloated after the 1 hour+ lunch.do not have to fear the rice.haha…

there are still many pictures of the sushi we tried but lazy to convert the picture format.even with all this sushi,we have not ate every single one on the menu yet.expect to see us there sometime next week.we are dying for our sushi dosage
=)

it’s a very unique savory muffins..can you imagine having both apple + cheese?

hmm…it turned out real great!

will definitely bake again..this time,i have to slice the apples into even smaller cubes

another easy and simple baking
=)

first stepped into Tao’s restaurant 2 years back,i believe…my family and i were attracted to its reasonable price and the menu.after the first meal,we were hooked and were a frequent visitor of the place.the standard of food i still the same.fantastic and worth every single penny!

they offer only set courses…a six course meal for lunch cost only $19.80+ and a seven course meal for dinner is around $29.90+.however,you can choose what you wish to have.

there is only 1 choice for the starter and it’s bacon and mushroom gratin with toasted bread.
i really really love this.hehe…

moving on…it’s salad time.there are many different salads for you to choose from
we had the fruits salad and farm boy splendor

the extra course that is only available during dinner is the grilled mushroom and sorbet
not a big fan of the mushroom as the sauce was a tad too sweet for my liking

this was followed by soup.again, there are many different soups for you to choose from
we ordered mushroom and pumpkin soup

now,it’s time for the main entrees
we had grilled chicken, roasted steak and grilled snapper
my fav is the chicken…will try the prawn or the flounder the next round

desert time!by this time, all of us were very full but we still got to hang on
my all time fav creme brulee, chocolate fondue and greentea cake

the final course to wrap everything up…drinks!haha…
we had grassjelly mint tea,ice rose tea and ice summer peach tea

am feeling a little hungry after seeing all the pictures =x
do go visit Tao’s if you are looking for set courses at a reasonable price

it’s advised to make reservation if you are intending to go down for dinner.if not,you might have to wait for 30 -45 mins for a seat

have updated the recipe for jellyhearts.do check it out if you are interested

anyway, after my exams…i tried to make marshmallow hearts.it was similar to jellyhearts but the center portion was changed to marshmallow instead.i thought it would be very interesting!

sad to say that it turned out to be a disaster =(

the taste was alright but the appearance was terrible.totally not appetizing at all (due to the floating pieces of marshmallows)

everyone preferred the original version of jellyhearts but i will give this another try in the future.hopefully,it’ll be better

no pictures cos it’s ugly.haha…

will be doing the food review of Tao’s restaurant later at night (if i have the time)
